Title: Nuclear Design Assurance Engineer
Salary range: £45,000 to £60,000 per annum
Location: Bristol, Burton or Manchester
Working Pattern: Flexible hybrid working pattern – time split between office, client sites and working from home.

Role Purpose
This role involves undertaking and managing a range of projects, working with other consultants, and contributing to the delivery of contracts to customers across the nuclear sector. Typical tasks include:
Nuclear Engineer – Design Assurance
- Engineering substantiation of systems, structures and components against safety requirements.
- Support of conformity assessment and the application of technical codes and standards.
- Safety case development and support for nuclear plant.
- Authoring or reviewing and verifying safety‑related documents.
- Assessment of modifications to nuclear plant.
- Technical oversight of the nuclear equipment supply chain.
Person Specification
Candidates will be required to undergo pre‑employment screening and must satisfy clearance criteria for UK National Security Vetting.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical or a related technical discipline.
- Typically 3+ years of experience in the nuclear industry.
- Chartered Member of an Engineering Institution (e.g., IMechE, IET) or working towards professional registration.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to handle shifting requirements and work professionally.
- Motivation to continually learn, improve and stretch yourself.
- Willingness to travel and spend time on client sites.
- Experience delivering projects for UK nuclear licensees.
- Familiarity with the UK regulatory regime for nuclear licensed sites.
- Eligible for UK Security Clearance.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Familiarity with nuclear design codes such as ASME BPVC Section III & RCC‑M.
- Familiarity with BS EN ISO standards relevant to nuclear power plant.
- Experience leading the substantiation of nuclear structures, systems and components.
- Familiarity with ALARP principles and safety justification methodologies.
- Technical consultancy experience.
- Project management experience.
