The Instrumentation Technician – ATG Installation is responsible for the installation, modification, replacement, and testing of Automatic Tank Gauge (ATG) systems and associated instrumentation on bulk‑storage tanks and fuel systems. In this role, you will support field installation activities, low‑voltage electrical work, communications wiring, and instrumentation maintenance in industrial and regulated environments.
Roles And Responsibilities
- Install, remove, and replace Automatic Tank Gauge (ATG) systems on bulk‑storage tanks
- Replace liquid level sensors on bulk‑storage tanks in accordance with manufacturer and site requirements
- Remove and replace MIC (Magnetostrictive Interface Cable) cables
- Run and install EMT conduit in accordance with NEC and site standards
- Pull and terminate low‑voltage wiring including RJ45, CAT‑5/CAT‑6, and instrumentation cables
- Install and terminate low‑voltage communication systems
- Mount and wire DIN‑rail mounted PLC components, transformers, and low‑voltage power supplies
- Perform point‑to‑point checks, continuity checks, and basic loop verification
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, loop drawings, and installation details
- Coordinate with commissioning, controls, and project teams to support system startup
- Maintain accurate field documentation, redlines, and installation records
- Follow all site safety requirements, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, and hazardous‑area protocols
Travel: This position has a 100% travel requirement. Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
- Must be a US Citizen. This position is 100% travel; applicants may be based anywhere within the United States.
- Technical Certification or Trade School and 1+ year of experience, or high school diploma and 2+ years of experience.
- Hands‑on experience with ATG systems, tank instrumentation, or fuel systems.
- Proficiency with EMT conduit installation and low‑voltage wiring.
- Ability to terminate Ethernet and communication cabling (RJ45, CAT‑5/CAT‑6).
- Experience mounting and wiring DIN‑rail electrical components.
- Familiarity with bulk‑storage tanks, refueling systems, or industrial facilities.
- Ability to read and understand electrical and instrumentation drawings.
- OSHA safety awareness and ability to work in hazardous or classified areas.
Preferred Qualifications
- Preference for current possession of a government CAC.
- Active or previous security clearance preferred.
