KBM Resourcing are recruiting on behalf of a leading specialist provider of climate control and digital solutions for a Trainee Electrical Engineer / Electrical Engineer’s Mate to join their growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career within the electrical engineering industry and gain valuable hands-on experience working alongside experienced engineers.

The successful candidate will support the installation, commissioning, maintenance and repair of electrical plant and hire equipment across the company’s depot and customer sites throughout the Central Belt, with opportunities to work on projects across Scotland as the business continues to grow.

This role would suit someone who has started their electrical career, has some practical experience, or is looking to develop their skills within an industrial or commercial environment.

The Role

Based from the company’s depot in Cumbernauld, you’ll work closely with experienced Electrical Engineers, supporting the day-to-day preparation, installation, maintenance and servicing of electrical plant and hire equipment.

You’ll gain exposure to a wide range of equipment and environments, developing your technical knowledge and practical skills as you progress.

Responsibilities will include

  • Assisting experienced engineers with the installation and commissioning of electrical hire equipment at customer sites.
  • Supporting maintenance, servicing and repairs within the workshop and on-site.
  • Assisting with testing, fault-finding and basic electrical repairs on 415V and 110V electrical plant equipment.
  • Preparing electrical equipment for hire and ensuring equipment is clean, safe and ready for use.
  • Assisting with the delivery, installation and collection of equipment from customer sites.
  • Learning how to identify electrical faults and support engineers in resolving technical issues.
  • Helping to monitor installed equipment and report any issues or potential faults.
  • Supporting equipment logistics and the day-to-day running of allocated projects.
  • Developing positive relationships with customers and providing a professional service on-site.
  • Working to the highest standards of health & safety and quality compliance.
  • What We’re Looking For

We’re keen to hear from motivated individuals who are looking to develop a long-term career within electrical engineering.

You’ll ideally have

  • Some previous electrical, mechanical or engineering experience, either through employment, college, an apprenticeship or practical experience.
  • An interest in electrical engineering and a genuine desire to learn and develop.
  • A basic understanding of electrical systems and safe working practices.
  • A willingness to work both in the workshop and on customer sites.
  • A practical, hands-on approach and a willingness to get involved.
  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to follow instructions and learn from experienced engineers.
  • Good communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with customers and colleagues.
  • A full UK driving licence, or willingness to work towards obtaining one.
  • Electrical qualifications or an electrical apprenticeship in progress would be advantageous but are not essential for the right candidate.
