A leading organisation within the energy services sector is seeking a highly organised and proactive Stores Controller to join its operations team based in Peterhead. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with strong coordination, stock control, and operational support experience to play a key role in maintaining efficient site operations.
The Role
Reporting to the site leadership team, the Stores Controller will be responsible for overseeing all receiving and dispatch activities, ensuring materials and equipment are managed effectively and in line with operational procedures. The role combines administrative, logistical, and hands-on yard responsibilities, requiring a flexible and safety-conscious approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate goods receipt and dispatch operations to ensure efficiency and accuracy
- Maintain stock control systems, including cycle counts and inventory adjustments
- Raise transfer orders, manage stock movements, and handle write-offs in line with procedures
- Ensure all transactions are accurately recorded within internal systems
- Organise materials within stores and yard areas to maintain accessibility and order
- Support operational teams through clear communication and collaboration
- Participate in safety meetings and promote a strong HSEQ culture
- Assist in training and mentoring site personnel where required
- Operate equipment such as forklifts and support loading/unloading activities
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across site operations
Skills & Experience
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines
- Experience in stock control, stores, or logistics environments
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
- Effective communicator with the ability to engage across all levels
- Experience within energy, industrial, or similar operational sectors is advantageous
- Familiarity with inventory or ERP systems (e.g., Navision or similar) is beneficial
- Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain) is desirable
