A fast-paced organisation is seeking a proactive Health & Safety Advisor to support the development of health, safety and risk management across its operational environment. This is a hands-on role for an HSE professional who is comfortable on site, confident influencing others, and committed to driving practical safety improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support risk assessment reviews
- Manage near miss reporting processes
- Support accident, incident and loss investigations
- Maintain HSE trackers and reporting data
- Conduct safety tours, inspections and audits
- Support leading and lagging KPI reporting
- Deliver risk assessment training and toolbox talks
- Work with operational teams to improve risk controls
- Support development of the HSE management system
- Assist with ISO 45001 readiness
Skills & Competencies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Able to coach and influence at all levels
- Confident interpreting hazard and risk information
- Proactive and practical approach to problem solving
- Systems thinker with a continuous improvement mindset
- Comfortable in a fast-paced operational environment
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and SharePoint
- Power BI knowledge would be an advantage
- Understanding of lean systems and 5S principles
Experience
- Experience in manufacturing, construction, utilities, renewables, pharmaceuticals, housing or logistics
- Experience investigating near misses, accidents or loss events
- Familiar with HSE guidance including HSG65, HSG48, HSG245 and HSG253
- Experience using HSE systems such as Sphera, EcoOnline, Sypol or Maximo
- Able to produce HSE metrics and dashboard reporting
- Exposure to ISO 45001 or similar management systems
Qualifications & Membership
- CITB SMSTS or NEBOSH National General Certificate
- Good knowledge of UK health and safety legislation
- Additional HSE or auditing qualifications would be beneficial
Professional Membership
- Membership of IOSH, BOHS, IRM or another relevant professional body
