Inspection Technician- Aberdeen

The Role

Responsible for the completion of statutory thorough examinations of lifting equipment, NDT inspections, load testing & use of harnesses for working at height as required if trained to do so.

Ability to successfully deliver works as part of a team or individually, maintaining good communications with both clients & colleagues & within agreed timescales.

Responsibilities

Carry out statutory thorough examinations on lifting equipment in accordance with all relevant standards, utilizing Rope Access techniques when required.

Perform NDT works where qualified & as required, in accordance with all relevant standards.

Carry out load testing utilizing test rig, known weights or water bags as required, in line with company or client procedures.

Only carry out inspections & testing of equipment within assigned competencies & qualifications.

Successfully support or lead inspection scopes as required, liaising with the customer & company office staff.

Create all job specific documents as required & submit in a timely manner, ensuring details are correct & are signed by client.

Manifesting of company equipment, including reporting of any damaged or missing items & preparation of goods for backload.

To report on the condition of all inspected items through visual or NDT methods using the reporting system in a clear & concise manner, ensuring all details are correct.

To formally report all defects/indications found in a timely manner at the end of each shift; Or where the defect poses an immediate danger, verbally report immediately with follow up formal written report.

Prepare on site risk assessments & raise required permits prior to commencing work.

Requirements

Qualifications/Certifications

Essential

  • MPI – ASNT or PCN L2.

Desirable

  • LEEA Entry Certificate.
  • HNC/HND in technical subject, Modern Apprenticeship/NVQ Level 3 in technical subject.
  • Further LEEA Qualifications.
  • Further NDT techniques such as ET, UT 3.1/3.2 , 3.8/3.9 & VT – CSWIP or PCN L2.
  • Wire Rope Inspection/Socketing.
  • (Proven relevant work experience at a comparable level may be accepted in the absence of formal qualifications at this level).
  • Full UK Driving licence (licence must allow driving of manual vehicles).
  • Knowledge

Essential

  • Sound basis of knowledge in a range of Equipment within competence.
  • Knowledge of all standard NDT practices & repair processes.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of advanced NDT techniques & their application.

Skills & Competencies

Essential

  • Ability to carry out thorough examinations, load testing & NDT inspections in a methodical & diligent manner.
  • IT Literate.

Desirable

  • Working knowledge of all Microsoft programmes.
  • Working knowledge of Motion Kinetic.
  • Ability to read design drawings.

Experience

Essential

  • Variety of NDT Work Scopes.
  • Lifting Equipment Inspections.
  • Wire Rope Inspection.
  • Minimum of 1 year spent working within the industry related to lifting equipment & NDT.
  • General knowledge of lifting equipment & its operating environment.
  • General knowledge of the application of NDT techniques.
