Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and optimise enterprise WLAN solutions across office, industrial, and large-scale enterprise environments.
- Conduct predictive and onsite wireless surveys, RF assessments, and coverage optimisation using tools such as Ekahau and Hamina.
- Perform RF analysis, channel planning, interference mitigation, and capacity optimisation.
- Troubleshoot complex Wi-Fi issues including:
- Authentication failures
- Roaming issues
- RF interference
- Performance degradation
- Coverage gaps
- Develop and maintain Low Level Designs (LLDs) for:
- Wireless LAN
- NAC solutions
- Enterprise connectivity services
- Create accurate Bills of Materials (BoMs) for:
- New deployments
- Refresh initiatives
- Upgrade programmes
- Support Wi-Fi lifecycle management including:
- Hardware refresh
- Firmware/software upgrades
- Capacity planning
- Performance tuning
- Work closely with infrastructure, operations, and platform teams to gather requirements and deliver scalable wireless solutions.
- Support SD-WAN overlay connectivity initiatives and alternative connectivity technologies including:
- 5G networking
- Satellite connectivity
- Disaster recovery networking solutions
- Implement and support secure WLAN authentication mechanisms using:
- 802.1X
- RADIUS
- EAP methods
- Role-based access controls
- Support enterprise NAC platforms including Cisco ISE and Aruba ClearPass.
- Analyse network performance metrics, incident trends, and wireless analytics to improve service reliability and user experience.
- Contribute to engineering standards, best practices, technical documentation, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Travel to Client sites across the UK for pre-deployment and post-deployment wireless surveys as required.
