We are looking for a qualified Financial Accountant with strong experience in tax, statutory accounting, and audit to join our UK team. This role will take ownership of UK VAT and corporation tax compliance, statutory reporting, and balance sheet integrity, while collaborating closely with external auditors and tax advisers and overseeing the French entity through external accountants. The ideal candidate is hands-on, proactive, and thrives in a fast-paced, global environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Tax & Compliance
- Prepare and submit UK VAT returns to HMRC, support UK corporation tax filings
- Respond to HMRC queries and follow up as needed
- Act as primary point of contact with external tax advisers for UK matters
- Oversee French tax compliance via external accountants
- Support Group tax reporting, audits, and statutory compliance
- Accounting & Audit
- Own statutory accounting and reporting for the UK entity
- Review outputs and statutory accounts prepared by external accountants for France
- Manage balance sheet reconciliations and month-end close activities
- Liaise with external auditors for UK and France, supporting year-end and interim audits
- Ensure compliance with Group accounting policies and UK GAAP / IFRS
- Inventory & Working Capital Oversight
- Oversee inventory accounting and valuation, supporting reconciliations and provisions
- Ensure internal controls over inventory reporting
- AR & AP – Local Oversight
- Coordinate with Global AR and AP teams to ensure smooth processing for UK and French entities
- Review AR/AP aging reports and support resolution of issues
- Support adherence to Group credit policies and payment schedules
- Collaboration & Process Improvement
- Work closely with Global Finance to ensure consistent accounting, tax, and reporting treatment
- Partner with FP&A, operations, and supply chain teams on reporting and reconciliations
- Support improvements to processes and systems across accounting, tax, and controls
- ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified
- Strong experience in UK tax (VAT and corporation tax), statutory accounting, and audit
- Experience preparing and submitting VAT returns
- Proven experience liaising with external auditors and tax advisers
- Knowledge of UK GAAP / IFRS and multi-entity environments
- Strong Excel skills; ERP experience (Microsoft Dynamics) desirable
- Detail oriented, proactive, and able to manage multiple deadlines
