We\’re seeking a Senior UX Writer (contractor, remote) to help us craft how travelers experience KAYAK through language. If you excel at crafting clear, consistent, and useful copy that puts the traveler first, let\’s talk!
What You’ll Do
- Work mainly with our Product Marketing & UX teams
- Craft and optimize product copy: Write thoughtful, traveler-first messaging across web, app, and email, keeping tone, clarity, and consistency top of mind. Focus areas might include features like Trips, Explore, Flex Dates, and Price Alerts.
- Support onboarding and education flows: Help guide new travelers through features with tooltips, modals, and walkthrough copy that’s as useful as it is human.
- Experiment and test: Partner with product marketing and UX research to explore new ways of saying things – and measure what works best.
- Collaborate across teams: Work alongside Designers, PMs, Brand, and Localization teams to make sure our messaging travels well (literally and figuratively).
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of proven experience in UX writing or product content design
- Native-level fluency in English
- Can adhere and align writing with an established brand tone of voice
- A portfolio that shows smart, user-centered copy across digital platforms
- Experience in travel, e-commerce, or data-rich products is a plus
- Strong systems thinker – you know how to scale messaging with documentation
- Comfortable working with data, A/B tests, and UX research insights and crafting easily-followed measurement tracking for results
- Clear communicator and natural collaborator
- Self-directed, remote-ready, and good with async workflows
- Bonus points if you’ve used Figma, Jira, Slack, a CMS, or localization tools
- Available for 10-20 hours per week with the ability to increase
What You Might Work On
- Onboarding messages for the KAYAK Trips feature (calendar sync, notifications, etc.)
- Rewriting the Explore or Flex Dates copy to better highlight the value and adhere to KAYAK style
- Helping evaluate user benefits for products in a qualitative measure and structuring benefit priorities
- Helping build a scalable messaging library to keep our copy consistent and efficient
