Government Contracts & Procurement Specialist
Summary:
The Contracts & Procurement Specialist is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of federal and DoD/DLA contracting activities, from proposal and bidding through contract award and fulfillment. This role involves interpreting government solicitations, preparing and submitting compliant bids, and reviewing blueprints and technical drawings to determine material and service requirements. Once awarded, the specialist oversees procurement by issuing purchase orders, negotiating with vendors, and ensuring timely delivery of goods and services in accordance with contract specifications and federal acquisition regulations (FAR/DFARS).
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze government solicitations and prepare competitive bids/proposals.
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine procurement needs.
- Manage post-award activities, including purchase orders, vendor selection, and contract compliance.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure quality, cost, and delivery requirements are met.
- Maintain compliance with federal acquisition regulations and internal policies.
- Act as the liaison between internal teams, government agencies, and vendors throughout the contract lifecycle.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, not required.
- 3+years of experience in government contracting (federal, DoD/DLA strongly preferred).
- Working knowledge of FAR/DFARS and government acquisition processes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications.
- Strong negotiation, vendor management, and communication skills.
