The Role

You’ll be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing a varied and diverse fleet. This is a hands-on role offering exposure to a wide range of vehicles, including:

  • Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs)
  • Refuse Collection Vehicles (RCV)
  • Road sweepers
  • Hook loaders
  • Light commercial vehicles (vans)
  • Trailers and tippers

Key Responsibilities

  • Routine and preventative maintenance
  • MOT preparation
  • Servicing to DVSA standards
  • 6- or 8-weekly safety inspections
  • Diagnosing and rectifying faults
  • Chassis and fabrication work
  • Working with hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Electrical diagnostics, wiring, and repairs
  • Continuous improvement of vehicle standards

About You

We welcome applications from both qualified and time-served technicians, as well as those looking to further develop their skills. You will ideally have:

  • A recognised qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent)
  • A strong understanding of commercial vehicle mechanics
  • A proactive attitude and commitment to high-quality workmanship

Desirable (but not essential):

  • IRTEC accreditation
  • EV/Hybrid vehicle qualifications
  • HGV Class 1 or Class 2 licence
