The company is a national leader in providing first class transport solutions. This Workshop Manager role is critical to the smooth functioning of a busy service/ Aftersales operation. Your remit will be to oversee the day-to-day activity of the workshop ensuring that jobs are allocated via a card system to the highly trained Vehicle Engineers.
Typically your workshop will be responsible for:
- Routine (and preventative) maintenance
- MOT preparation
- Scheduled servicing to DVSA standards
- 6 (or 8) weekly inspections
- Correction of running defects
- Chassis and fabrication work
- Hydraulics and pneumatics
- Improvement of vehicle standards
- Electrical and wiring inspections and corrections
What are critical facets to the role are that you have very good people skills. You will be liaising with internal and external stakeholders, sometimes in a high pressured environment, so a cool head is required at all times. The type of vehicles worked on range from heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), road tankers, MOD, GSE, gritters, RCVs, refuge vehicles and road sweepers. The fitters under your guidance are highly skilled. They will be looking after a mix of diesel, hybrid and fully electric vehicles, it is therefore important that you are up to date with modern vehicle technologies. Making sure that the work has been carried to the correct specifications and within the time frames.
