Are you a Senior HGV Fitter, HGV Mechanic, or HGV Technician looking for a Supervisory role? This is a workshop-based role in the Reading area, offering a Monday to Friday job with 45 hours per week, anywhere between 6am and 6pm. It is a permanent, full-time role with a salary of up to £60,000 per annum.
This role is for a Senior HGV Technician who is looking to take their career to the next level into a chargehand or supervisory position. You will be responsible for:
- The productivity and overall efficiencies of a busy workshop.
- Overseeing the day-to-day activity.
- Ensuring that jobs are allocated via a card system to the Vehicle Engineers.
- Making sure that the work has been carried out to the correct specifications and within the time frames.
- Liaising with the Parts Department to ensure the correct equipment is being used to carry out the repairs and to maintain correct stock levels.
While this is a Workshop Supervisor role, you may be required to assist the mechanics in the workshop. The types of vehicles worked on include heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), road tankers, MOD, GSE, gritters, RCVs, refuge vehicles, and road sweepers.
This role would suit someone with experience in a similar role within an HGV or Council Fleet workshop environment and good commercial vehicle knowledge from a technical perspective. The fitters under your guidance are highly skilled and will be looking after a mix of diesel, hybrid, and fully electric vehicles, so it is important that you are up to date with modern vehicle technologies.
Ideally, for this Workshop Supervisor role, you will be fully qualified to City & Guilds or NVQ level or equivalent. It is also important that you are familiar with vehicle transaction systems and have solid IT skills.
