About the Opportunity
KaurMaxwell is seeking an experienced Managing Associate to join and help develop our Litigation and Insolvency practice .
Based in High Holborn, London, KaurMaxwell is a growing boutique law firm with a focus on delivering commercially sound legal advice and building long-term client relationships.
This position offers the opportunity to take on greater responsibility for the development and commercial performance of the department, while continuing to manage complex and high-value legal matters.
Sitting between Senior Associate and Head of Department, the role is suited to an experienced solicitor who is ready to take the next step in their career, develop their own practice and progress towards departmental leadership.
Key Responsibilities
As a Managing Associate, you will:
- Manage complex litigation and insolvency matters , taking responsibility for cases from initial instruction through to resolution.
- Provide clear, commercially focused legal advice and develop effective strategies that reflect clients' objectives.
- Lead, supervise and mentor junior lawyers and paralegals , maintaining high standards of legal work and supporting professional development.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted adviser and identifying opportunities to provide additional legal support.
- Contribute to business development , including networking, generating referrals, developing professional relationships and securing new instructions.
- Work closely with the Head of Department to support the growth, management and commercial performance of the practice.
- Take responsibility for financial performance, including billing, profitability, work in progress and debtor management.
- Maintain compliance with relevant professional and regulatory obligations, including SRA requirements and AML procedures.
- Contribute to improvements in working practices, technology adoption and the delivery of legal services.
About You:
We are looking for a commercially minded solicitor with substantial litigation and insolvency experience, strong technical ability and the ambition to take on greater leadership responsibilities.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Qualification as a Solicitor of England and Wales.
- Approximately 8+ years' post-qualification experience , although this is a guideline rather than a strict requirement.
- Extensive experience handling litigation and insolvency matters, including complex and high-value cases.
- Strong technical knowledge and the ability to manage matters independently.
- Proven experience supervising junior colleagues or a clear readiness to take on leadership responsibilities.
- Experience developing business, generating instructions and maintaining long-term client relationships.
- Strong commercial awareness, including an understanding of profitability and the financial management of legal matters.
- Excellent communication, organisation and client management skills.
- A proactive, collaborative approach and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Confidence using technology to support efficient legal practice.
- The right to work in the UK.
