Project Manager – Acquisitions & Business Integration

We are recruiting for a rapidly growing professional services firm with an active programme of acquisitions, business integration and firm-wide change.
Working closely with the Head of PMO, Head of Integration and senior leadership team, you will provide the project management discipline needed to keep several strategic initiatives moving simultaneously.
The role will create a clear, firm-wide view of projects and integration activity: connecting workstreams, establishing accountability, identifying risks and dependencies, and ensuring senior leaders have the information needed to make timely decisions.
This is a business change role, not an IT or systems implementation position. The projects will span areas including people, operations, client delivery, finance, compliance, suppliers and organisational processes.
The role will include:
- Managing and coordinating a portfolio of acquisition, integration and business-change projects.
- Supporting acquisition activity from pre-completion and Day One through to full operational integration.
- Creating and maintaining project plans, portfolio roadmaps, milestones, RAID logs and decision logs.
- Connecting individual workstreams and ensuring responsibilities, deadlines and dependencies are clearly understood.
- Monitoring progress against agreed plans and constructively challenging delays or unclear ownership.
- Identifying operational risks, resource constraints and competing priorities across the firm.
- Producing concise, decision-focused updates for senior leaders and the Board.
- Tracking agreed benefits, synergies and integration outcomes.
- Establishing consistent project-governance and reporting standards.
- Improving PMO dashboards, templates and ways of working.
- Using appropriate project-management technology, automation and AI to improve visibility and reporting.
Applicants must have:
- Project management experience gained within a legal or professional services environment.
- Experience managing business change, operational improvement or integration projects not solely IT or systems projects.
- Experience coordinating multiple projects or interconnected workstreams at the same time.
- Strong knowledge of project governance, risk management, dependencies, critical paths and benefits realisation.
- The ability to create structure, establish accountability and maintain momentum across complex projects.
- Confidence working with and constructively challenging senior stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to turn complex information into clear, Board-level reporting.
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills, together with experience using project or portfolio-management tools.
Experience of acquisition or post-merger integration would be highly advantageous, as would exposure to rapidly growing professional services business.
This opportunity would suit a commercially minded Project Manager who understands that successful integration extends beyond a project plan. You will need to connect people, processes and operational priorities while giving senior leaders confidence that delivery remains on track.
Applicants whose experience is limited primarily to IT infrastructure, software implementation or technical systems projects will not have the broader business-change experience required for this role.
