Our client based in Birmingham are a progressive, fast growing Tech firm with an opportunity for a Data Protection & Information Governance Assistant to join their team.
This is a newly created role ideal for anyone with a passion for Legal Data Protection regulations and compliance.
Reporting to the Information Governance Manager, you will provide vital support across data protection compliance activities gaining exposure to a wide range of matters in a collaborative and professional environment.
This role will be the right-hand person with extensive stakeholder engagement so strong communication skills are essential for this role.
Key Responsibilities will include
- Data Protection Compliance
- Processing Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) in line with UK data protection laws.
- Assisting with reviewing and responding to data protection–related complaints.
- Supporting the DPO on routine audits (data processors, information assets, cookies, international transfers).
- Drafting and reviewing basic data protection policies and procedures under supervision.
- Supporting with audits internally to ensure ISO compliance and Cyber support
- Assisting with the implementation of Data Retention Policies.
- Carrying out ad-hoc research into data protection matters.
- Monitoring updates to UK data protection regulation, ICO guidance and enforcement activity.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date team documentation.
This role would suit anyone who enjoys Legal Compliance and would be keen to pursue a career a data protection and compliance. A Law degree or similar degree would be desirable.
