We are seeking an experienced, trustworthy, and warm-natured Live-In Housekeeper to work directly with the Principal within a well-run private household, based between London and South of France throughout 2026, before settling into a longer-term London residence from 2027 onwards. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who genuinely enjoys creating and maintaining a calm, organised, and beautifully kept home environment, and who takes quiet pride in their work.
The household consists of the Principal and her Dachshund, with residences typically comprising spacious 4-5 bedroom rural properties. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of housekeeping to an exceptional standard, including:
- Cleaning
- Laundry
- Ironing
- Wardrobe and linen care
- Ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the home
Additional duties will include:
- Preparing simple healthy meals
- Shopping and errands
- Receiving post and deliveries
- Welcoming guests when required
- Liaising with tradespeople
- Assisting with household organisation and security
- Caring for and walking the Principal’s dog
Candidates must have a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience working within a live-in private household role with excellent references. The role requires someone who is highly discreet, reliable, adaptable, and capable of working independently whilst maintaining consistently high standards.
A full clean driving licence and valid passport are essential, as occasional travel within the UK and abroad may be required beyond the planned UK-France rotation. Fluent English is essential and Spanish would be highly advantageous.
The position is offered on a live-in basis with fully provided accommodation at all locations, including a private bedroom and bathroom, together with all utilities covered. Working days and hours are 5 days per week, approximately 40 hours with flexibility required occasionally to accommodate travel or household needs, with any additional time compensated through equivalent time off. The salary offered is £40-£45k gross per annum depending on experience. Role to commence as soon as the right candidate is found.
