Super new position for a Gardener/Maintenance/River Keeper & Part-Time Housekeeper couple to look after a stunning home set in 20 acres on the River Kennet near Hungerford, Berkshire. Retired, sociable principals with relaxed, informal home are looking for proactive, self-starters with good previous experience and a flexible attitude.
Gardener / Maintenance / River Keeper needed to work full-time, 5 days per week (Mon - Fri, 40 hours), with Housekeeper working part-time (15-16hrs per week).
Gardener / Maintenance / River Keeper (Full-Time)Responsibilities:
- General garden maintenance: lawns, hedges, borders, weeding, pruning, vegetable garden.
- River keeping duties on the private stretch of river – training provided (experience helpful but not essential).
- General property and grounds maintenance: light repairs, painting, fencing, pathways, etc.
- Coordination with external contractors and suppliers when required.
- Log cutting, laying fires and basic machinery care.
- Occasional driving for airport runs.
- Dog care when the principals are away.
Responsibilities:
- Housekeeping for the main house: cleaning, laundry, ironing, and household organisation.
- Support when principals entertaining – table setting, service, tidying up after guests.
- Occasional basic cooking or food preparation (e.g., preparing vegetables or simple dishes).
- Pet care support when principals are away.
Accommodation: Newly renovated 1-bed flat with balcony and garden access (pets welcome). All costs covered. Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 gross p.a. depending on experience.
