Cook/Housekeeper & Houseman/Maintenance/Driver couple sought to look after a magnificent rural home near Andover on the Hampshire/Wiltshire border. Although only one person in permanent residence, the house can be very busy with extended family at weekends. This position would best suit a couple who can cope with peaks and troughs of activity and can keep themselves motivated during quiet periods and calm during the busy times!
The couple must be happy working as a team supporting each other, particularly in the kitchen. Enthusiastic and confident cooks would be ideal, catering for decent family meals, sometimes as many as 20 (including children) for lunch, a good fish pie or spaghetti bolognaise. Making jams, freezing garden produce, baking cakes etc. would all be much appreciated. It is a very informal, relaxed family environment, with no serving required.
General housekeeping and cleaning are also required (an additional housekeeper looks after the top floor bedrooms and bathrooms). Maintenance duties are really limited to feeding and cleaning out the chickens and laying fires. No gardening is needed. Driving for food shopping and occasional station runs is required (only one driver essential). A car will be provided on duty only, so the couple would need their own car.
Working hours are 5 days a week, from 8.30am to 5.30pm, with weekends worked and Tuesdays and Wednesdays off. Any extra hours will be paid as overtime.
A 2 bed flat is provided away from the main house with a small garden. Regretfully, this position is not suitable for pets or dependents.
Interviewing now to start as soon as the ideal couple is found. Salary is negotiable according to experience, from £70k - £80k gross pa.
