Location: Stafford, Norton Bridge, Rugeley, Cannock, Leek, Penkridge, Eccleshall, Newport, Hanley, Stoke and Hednesford – whichever is best for you.

Hours: Flexible (minimum a few hours/week).

As a retail & customer service volunteer, you’ll support our charity shop team – creating welcoming, well-organised, attractive retail spaces, assisting customers and helping keep our shops running smoothly.

Whether you’re interested in fashion, enjoy helping people or want to build real-world retail experience, this role offers a chance to contribute meaningfully and build your skills – all in a friendly, supportive environment.

We provide free, compassionate care for people with incurable illnesses across Stafford and the surrounding areas. Our charity shops play a crucial role in raising the funds needed to support this care – and our volunteers are at the heart of that.

What you’ll do:

  • Organise, replenish and rotate stock on the shop floor.
  • Sort and prepare donated items (clothing, books, homeware, etc.).
  • Tag, price, fold or hang items, ensuring items are ready for sale.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and inviting retail floor.
  • Welcome and assist customers: answer queries, help them locate items, offer styling advice or suggestions.
  • Ensure a positive shopping experience with friendly, helpful service.
  • Create attractive displays and window arrangements.
  • Help plan and set up seasonal or promotional displays to highlight special items or themes.
  • Optional – Till & payment handling (training provided): serve customers at the till, process cash and card payments, provide point-of-sale customer service.
