Our client is an innovative, fast-growing technology business, entering a pivotal phase of growth. The business is scaling rapidly and is currently engaged in fundraising and preparation for its next stage of expansion.

We are seeking an experienced Interim Finance Director to lead the finance function through this pivotal period. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role will take full ownership of finance and hold line management responsibility for HR from a reporting, governance, and performance perspective. This is a hands-on interim leadership role requiring both strategic oversight and practical delivery. The successful candidate will play a central role in strengthening financial discipline, supporting fundraising activity, and ensuring the organisation is structured to scale effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Finance Leadership
    • Lead the end-to-end finance function: reporting, forecasting, budgeting, cashflow, and statutory compliance
    • Build and maintain robust financial models to support growth planning and scenario analysis
    • Ensure financial controls, systems, and processes are fit for a rapidly scaling business
    • Deliver clear, accurate, board-level reporting and insight
    • Act as the primary contact for auditors, advisors, and external finance stakeholders
    • Play a supportive role in current and future fundraising activity
    • Partner with the CEO/Managing Director to articulate the financial and commercial growth story
  • HR Oversight
    • Line management responsibility for HR from a reporting and governance perspective
    • Ensure headcount planning, workforce costs, and remuneration align with budgets and growth plans
    • Support organisational scaling, role clarity, and cost control
    • Ensure people data and reporting is accurate and decision-useful
  • Leadership
    • Act as a trusted partner to the senior leadership team
    • Bring structure, pace, and clarity to a fast-moving, high-growth environment
    • Challenge constructively while remaining pragmatic and delivery-focused

Experience

  • Proven experience at Finance Director or CFO level in a scaling business
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to turn financial data into clear decisions
  • Experience working closely with Boards, investors, and senior leadership teams
  • Experience gained from working within a smaller business where a clear eye for the detail is essential
  • Background in VC-backed, PE-backed, or founder-led businesses
  • Direct experience supporting fundraising and Series funding rounds
  • Previous interim or transformation leadership experience
