We’re looking for a senior finance leader to work closely with our commercial and executive teams. You’ll help shape strategy, guide investment decisions and make sure growth is profitable, sustainable and focused on great outcomes for clients. You’ll be a trusted partner to senior leaders, leading a small, high-calibre finance team and playing a key role in planning, budgeting and performance management across the business.
What you’ll do:
- Act as the lead finance partner to senior commercial and executive leaders.
- Be an active member of senior leadership teams, contributing to business strategy and decision-making.
- Lead and develop a small team of qualified accountants.
- Co-create the three-year business plan and annual budget with senior leaders, covering all products, channels and entities.
- Own delivery of the budget, identifying risks and opportunities early and taking action as conditions change.
- Take responsibility for profit, balance sheet performance and major investments, across a large, complex business.
- Set and manage treasury strategy, balancing strong client outcomes with commercial returns.
- Champion efficiency and value for money, ensuring growth is profitable and resources are used where they deliver the greatest return.
- Improve the quality of management information so leaders can clearly see what matters and what actions to take, with a strong forward-looking focus.
- Review and challenge business plans and forecasts, ensuring they are realistic and backed by clear commercial actions.
- Lead investment cases that improve products, pricing, incentives, operating model and overall performance.
- Sponsor in-depth analysis across the business, ensuring decisions reflect the needs of clients, colleagues and shareholders.
- Own financial risk and control standards for commercial and product areas, making sure issues are identified and fixed.
- Identify opportunities to grow market share through competitor insight and benchmarking.
- Build a deep understanding of our products, services, clients and their end-to-end experience.
- Continuously improve ways of working to make the business simpler, faster and more efficient.
Skills/Experience required:
- Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA, ACA) with significant post qualification experience ideally gained within a large, complex, services organisation.
- Proven experience in a commercial finance role in a leadership role, working with multiple key stakeholders.
- Ability to understand the strategic business goals of an organisation, with the ability to “look beyond the numbers” and understand the wider business context.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
- Strong track record in influencing decision making within a business and driving business performance.
- Ability to work flexibly with conflicting demands so that work is scheduled in order to meet changing priorities and deadlines.
- Experienced in developing a team and building capability.
- Experience of working at an Executive level in terms of report writing and presentations.
- Strong financial modelling and analytical capabilities, with advanced Excel skills.
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organisation.
- Proactive, results-oriented and commercial mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast paced, high growth environment.
- A clear and logical approach to problem solving with the ability to interpret both financial and non-financial impacts of commercial decisions.
