Are you an ambitious, motivated pharmacist, striving to continuously improve patient care and experience? This position joins an established team of pharmacists, primarily within the Respiratory Medicine team with support from the wider pharmacy team. Knowledge and exposure to clinical pharmacy in respiratory specialties is advantageous but not essential. The role supports completing the clinical diploma or Independent Prescribing qualification as desired, building a portfolio aligned to the RPS Advanced Pharmacy Framework.

Main duties of the job

  • Providing a clinical pharmacy service to wards, including information and advice on the safe, effective and economical use of drugs to health professionals and patients.
  • Clinical ward cover as part of the wider Medicine team.
  • Provision of medicines information to patients and carers as needed.
  • Responsible Pharmacist duties within the dispensary on a rota basis.
  • Embarking on further training to support progression, e.g., completion of clinical diploma, independent prescribing, specialist accreditation.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Registered pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Masters Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent
  • Successful completion of year 1 postgraduate clinical diploma, primary care pathway or equivalent
  • Commitment to CPD in line with GPhC recommendations
  • Willingness to undertake further training in respiratory medicine
  • Keeping professionally up to date in the specialist area
  • Attending relevant local and national training events/courses to further professional knowledge

Desirable

  • Member of a relevant specialist body (UKCPA etc.)
  • Independent Prescribing Qualification
  • Postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy

Experience

Essential: Experience as a hospital pharmacist

Desirable:

  • Experience of providing a clinical pharmacy service to respiratory wards
  • Experience of formulating protocols and standard operating procedures
  • Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams
