The Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting for a Locum Consultant in Dermatology on a 24-month fixed-term contract. This role offers an opportunity to practice across a wide range of dermatology conditions, including clinics for systemic diseases, routine and cancerous lesions, paediatrics, and skin surgery. Clinical workload includes inpatient referrals and reviews, providing advice and guidance to primary care, and administrative virtual clinics. Attendance at local MDTs and joint plastics clinics is included in the job plan, along with support for RSM education sessions on the third Thursday of each month.

The department manages a full spectrum of dermatology conditions, with clinics covering general skin conditions, systemic diseases (e.g., psoriasis), pigmented lesions, fast-track cancer clinics, and paediatric dermatology. A monthly joint clinic with plastic surgeons, weekly skin cancer MDTs, and bimonthly specialist MDTs with colleagues in Oxford are held. The department is supported by a team of specialist nurses, including skin cancer nurses, a nurse-led phototherapy service, patch testing, and full radiology facilities including CT and MRI.

Outpatient clinics are held in a dedicated dermatology area on the third floor of the Wren unit, matching high outpatient demand. The department collaborates closely with plastic surgery colleagues within the hospital, which is part of Oxford University Hospitals, our tertiary referral centre.
