A leading social housing provider is seeking an experienced Repairs Officer to join their growing Maintenance team. This is a key role in ensuring high-quality, customer-focused repairs and maintenance services across their housing stock.
As an integral part of the repairs and maintenance function, you will oversee day-to-day management of contracted repairs, drive service improvements, and ensure homes are safe, well maintained and delivered to a consistently high standard.
The Role- Manage the daily performance of external repairs contractors, ensuring high-quality, timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Undertake surveys on properties, specify works, raise orders and monitor progress through to completion.
- Provide strong budget oversight, using data and insight to drive value for money and continuous improvement.
- Carry out pre and post-inspections, health & safety audits and quality checks to ensure compliance and high standards across all works.
- Support the delivery of an efficient repairs service, contributing to strategic planning and operational improvements.
- Handle complaints, legal disrepair matters and enquiries professionally, ensuring positive outcomes for customers.
- Prepare estimates, valuations and documentation, and support contract meetings and negotiations.
- Manage and develop an Apprentice Surveyor, promoting high performance and professional growth.
- Contribute to maintaining a best-in-class repairs service, helping to achieve top-quartile performance across key metrics.
- Take part in an out-of-hours management rota (including some weekend work).
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a busy, reactive workload.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build productive contractor and internal relationships.
- Experience managing repairs or voids services within a social housing or similar environment.
- A solid understanding of building construction, repairs and maintenance.
- Experience in performance management, service improvement and budget oversight.
- HND in Building Construction, Building Surveying or related discipline essential.
- Professional qualification (e.g., CIOB, RICS) desirable.
- NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent in Health & Safety desirable.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle with business-use insurance.
