The Role
Reporting to the Team Manager, you will take ownership of rent accounts and play a key role in maximising income collection while supporting customers to sustain their tenancies. You'll be responsible for managing arrears, taking appropriate legal action where necessary, and providing practical advice to customers around debt, benefits, and financial inclusion.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage rent accounts across a variety of tenures, ensuring arrears are effectively controlled
- Take appropriate action to recover debts including rent arrears, recharges and service charges
- Initiate and manage legal proceedings, including preparing court documentation and attending hearings
- Liaise with external agencies such as Local Authorities and the Department for Work and Pensions
- Provide advice and support to customers on welfare benefits, budgeting and financial inclusion
- Make referrals to specialist money advice and support services where appropriate
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to address wider tenancy issues such as safeguarding or anti-social behaviour
- Maintain accurate records and ensure all actions are completed in line with policies and procedures
About You
We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of income recovery within a social housing environment and will have strong knowledge of housing legislation and financial inclusion.
