My client is an innovative provider of education and care for children, young people and adults with special educational needs and disabilities. They are currently looking for a Night Youth Support Worker to join their school within the Windsor area. You must ideally have your Level 3 Diploma in Childcare or equivalent.

My client's School supports children and young people aged 5 to 19 years with severe and complex difficulties (PMLD, SLD) including physical and sensory needs. This role is essential to the development and maintenance of a stable, happy and caring environment. Role holders will build trusted relationships with children and young people which puts their health, safety, development and welfare first.

The role will provide appropriate physical and emotional support to children and young adults within residential and education/learning environments and with off-site activities:

  • Implement the Waking Day Curriculum for children and young adults, in order to meet their current needs and enable them to achieve ongoing development and growth.
  • Support and facilitate learning and independence.
  • Contribute to planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes and plans.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of a safe, homely environment which reflects the ages and interests of the Children/Young Adults.
  • Assist the Education team (as appropriate for provision) in creating an environment which supports education and learning.
  • Develop and maintain own effective relationships with all including parents, guardians, social workers and other professionals and agencies as required.
  • Understand and comply with the relevant quality standards, developing own practice so that it meets and wherever possible exceeds these.
  • Ensure own adherence to all policies and procedures and regulatory and legal requirements of the role and of the Aurora Values and be prepared to challenge others where behaviour does not demonstrate this.
  • Undertake any other duties, appropriate to the post and as reasonably requested.

Experience:

  • Relevant knowledge and experience of special needs environment.
  • Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection and/or DOLs procedures.
  • Experience of managing a range of approaches to managing and de-escalating challenging behaviours.
  • Experience working within support/care roles.
  • Experience and/or understanding of working within a multi-cultural, inclusive setting.
  • Knowledge of basic First Aid is desirable.
