The school wishes to grow its Mechanical Engineering teaching and research capability with a high‑calibre appointment in the mechanics of extreme environments, hypersonics with a focus on applications in the defence sector. We welcome candidates with strengths across high‑impact and high‑rate mechanics, ballistics and the response of materials and structures under extreme conditions, including those with experimental and computational expertise in extreme regimes.
About You
- You will have a PhD or equivalent research experience in mechanics of materials in extreme environments, high‑rate mechanics, hypersonics, ballistics, or a closely related field. Expertise in experimental techniques and/or computational modelling under extreme conditions is essential.
- You will have a track record of research excellence, with publications in leading journals and a trajectory towards international recognition. Experience in defence‑related applications or collaboration with industry partners is particularly welcomed.
