We are looking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced individual for the role of Employment & Skills Advisor in the Foundations for Life Team. Our team provides holistic Careers Information, Advice & Guidance to our customers to help them move closer to and into work.
About the role: We are a matrix standard accredited Employability service operating across the North East of England. It’s a small, but busy team putting the customer at the heart of our advice and guidance. We work in partnership with key stakeholders across the housing and employment sector; and work on multiple collaborative projects. These roles are fixed term, to cover some internal secondments until 31st March 2026. Patches/areas of work will be designated to the successful post-holder; but extensive travel will be expected. We are a small team, covering a large geographical base, and we do expect team members to travel for appointments.
About you: You will play an integral role in proactively supporting our customers to build strong foundations for a successful tenancy through improving their employment prospects and personal resilience. You will work flexibly, with a customer-centric approach, to guide customers both individually and in group settings to increase their skills, competence and confidence to move them closer, and ultimately into meaningful and sustainable employment. You will have a working knowledge of client progression options such as skills and vocational training, work placements, job searching and volunteering, and experience of collaborative partnership working. You will also be approachable and professional, with the confidence to approach employers to negotiate opportunities to meet our customers' needs and break down their barriers and challenges in the labour market. You will have a positive and enthusiastic attitude, with a deep understanding of the complex needs of our customers, and the issues they face while being out of employment or under-qualified/skilled. You will have excellent interpersonal skills to build effective and strong relationships with internal and external partners.

Employment & Skills Advisor - fixed term role until 31 March 2026. Salary is £36,996 per annum plus a Karbon car payment of £2,317 per annum. Location: Gosforth or Greengates. Regular, extensive travel will be required and notably you will be expected to provide cover and attend meetings at our Skills Hub in Stanley, County Durham. 37 Hours per week with some homeworking available/flexible working.
