We are looking for a Study Skills Adviser (English Language Support) to join our team.

Role Summary

As a Study Skills Adviser (English Language Support), you’ll join a growing team, providing academic skills support to our international student population. You will help students to develop their academic skills throughout their learning journey, specialising in English for Academic Purposes and being a key contact within the Student Services Department. You will develop and deliver personalised one-to-one sessions on a variety of topics, seeking to provide students with the skills they’ll need to succeed on their course. In these support sessions, you will be assessing the students’ learning needs and adapting your teaching accordingly. You will be in touch with students at vital points in their learning journey and the development of materials for the learning platform.

What you’ll bring to the role

  • An Undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification
  • A TESOL or CELTA qualification
  • Experience of providing academic skills support in a higher education environment.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Evidence of the ability to manage a high workload to tight deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills, comfortable working with students and colleagues in a virtual environment
  • Excellent IT skills and willingness to embrace new technology

Desirable

  • Experience of teaching EAP, ideally in a Higher Education learning environment.
  • A PG Cert in Teaching English for Academic Purposes
  • A DELTA qualification
