Overview

Electrical Maintenance Engineer – Location: Northamptonshire – Salary: £50,000 per year + overtime – Hours: shift basis.

The Role: We are looking for an Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join our Northamptonshire site on a permanent, full-time basis. The role focuses on maintaining, fault finding, and improving a wide range of production and plant equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Fault finding, servicing, and maintenance of production machinery and control systems
  • PLC and computer-controlled systems
  • Plant services and electrical distribution systems
  • Carrying out planned and preventative maintenance on process systems
  • Safety systems
  • Electrical distribution
  • Testing electrical installations using appropriate test and measurement equipment
  • Reading and interpreting electrical drawings and schematics
  • Supporting and delivering small electrical projects from concept through to commissioning

Project Work Includes:

  • Designing simple electrical control systems
  • Producing electrical drawings
  • Ordering components and materials
  • Building and installing control systems
  • Commissioning new or modified equipment

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Recognised electrical qualification (Apprenticeship, BTEC, C&G, or NVQ Level 3)
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with production plant systems, including:
  • PLCs
  • VSDs and soft starters
  • Weighing equipment
  • Sensors and process control systems
  • Experience with scheduled and preventative maintenance
  • Confident working from electrical drawings and schematics
  • Desirable Experience:

    • PLC programming and software experience, particularly Mitsubishi or Siemens
    • Multi-skilled background with mechanical and pneumatic experience
    • Inspection and testing qualifications
    • Previous experience within the food manufacturing industry
