We are seeking a Commercial Lead to oversee the commercial, financial and contractual aspects of the Maple Lodge STW upgrade project, a flagship £200m+ wastewater infrastructure scheme. The role will lead the Commercial team and drive commercial success from pre‑construction to final account while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.
Location: Maple Lodge STW – remote working available, with travel to the office/site required at least 3 days a week.
Hours: 45 hours per week – some flexibility on hours available if desired.
Responsibilities
- Lead all commercial, financial and contractual management for the project, ensuring compliance and driving financial performance.
- Manage and mentor a team of Quantity Surveyors, supporting their development and fostering a collaborative, high‑performance culture.
- Establish robust cost management processes, including forecasting, budget reporting and value engineering initiatives.
- Oversee supply‑chain procurement, subcontract management and contract negotiation.
- Maintain the commercial risk and opportunities register, identifying risks early and developing mitigation actions.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Commercial Manager on major civil engineering or water infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of contract management and change control processes.
- Demonstrable experience managing and mentoring a commercial team.
- Skilled in cost forecasting, financial reporting, subcontract management and commercial risk management.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to collaborate across design, engineering and planning functions.
