We’re looking for a Security Manager to join Kier’s construction team. The role is based in various secure locations across the UK. Location: Site/office based — remote working available, with occasional travel to the office required. Hours: Full-time with some flexibility on hours available.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Kier as a Security Manager, where you’ll safeguard projects, people and information. You’ll be the trusted expert on all security matters—from physical security and personnel vetting to managing classified information—ensuring high standards across work with government departments including UK Parliament, the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Defence.

Responsibilities
  • Lead security governance and risk assessments across multiple projects, ensuring robust protective measures are in place.
  • Oversee personnel security processes including vetting, clearances and insider threat mitigation for Kier staff and supply chain partners.
  • Manage physical security controls, conduct site inspections and implement improvements to safeguard secure environments.
  • Deliver engaging security awareness programmes and champion a strong security culture across all teams.
  • Lead incident investigations and ensure swift, appropriate responses to any security breaches.
Requirements / What we’re looking for
  • You have a proven track record in managing secure environments such as UK Parliament, Ministry of Defence or Ministry of Justice projects.
  • You are an experienced security professional with knowledge of Cabinet Office and National Protective Security Authority standards.
  • You have practical experience in incident management and the ability to support business continuity planning.
  • You possess excellent communication skills and can confidently influence colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
  • You hold or can achieve Developed Vetting security clearance (British citizenship required).
