We are looking for an experienced and ambitious Assistant Estimator (Junior Pre Contracts Manager) to join one of London's leading Design & Build fit‑out contractors. Reporting directly to the Managing Director and Technical Director, you will play a key role in the pre‑construction and tendering process, helping deliver outstanding workplace and commercial interior projects for some of the UK's most recognised businesses.

Key Responsibilities- Review Employer's Requirements and tender documentation.
- Prepare subcontractor tender packages and manage tender return processes.
- Carry out quantity take‑offs using Bluebeam software (training provided).
- Source, evaluate, and compare subcontractor quotations.
- Attend and lead subcontractor meetings, technical workshops, and project meetings.
- Conduct building analyses and property evaluations.
- Assess and interpret client briefs for cost planning and value engineering opportunities.
- Coordinate subcontractor site surveys and review scopes of work.
- Analyse and negotiate subcontractor tender returns, making recommendations to senior management.
- Prepare project specifications and cost estimates using Excel‑based systems.
- Develop and manage pre‑construction programmes and bid documentation.
- Support client presentations and prospective project pitches.
- Coordinate planning applications, Building Control submissions, and Licence to Alter applications.
- Ensure compliance with Building Regulations, Planning Regulations, and CDM requirements.
- Maintain the highest standards of Health & Safety, quality, environmental, and anti‑bribery compliance.
- Assist in the smooth handover of technical and construction documentation to project delivery teams.
- 5+ years' experience within the construction industry.
- Strong commercial pre‑contract experience, ideally within office Design & Build fit‑out.
- Proven cost planning and value engineering expertise.
- Detailed knowledge of JCT contracts.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- High levels of self‑motivation, ambition, and attention to detail.
