This is a full‑time permanent position, based in our London office. We operate on a hybrid working arrangement and require a minimum of 2 days in the office. We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Functional Consultant specialising in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O) with deep expertise in Financial Accounting and Controlling. The ideal candidate will lead complex finance transformation programmes, drive solution architecture discussions, mentor business finance staff, and serve as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders. This role requires advanced domain expertise, excellent analytical capabilities, and strong leadership competencies.

Role Responsibilities
  • Lead end‑to‑end functional design for D365 Finance & Controlling modules (GL, AP, AR, FA, Cash & Bank, Budgeting, Cost Accounting, Consolidations, Project Accounting).
  • Architect finance solutions aligned with industry best practices and D365 standard capabilities.
  • Drive complex gap‑fit analysis and define integration, customisation, and reporting strategies.
  • Provide strategic guidance on financial processes, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
  • Serve as the senior functional lead on major implementation workstreams.
  • Oversee configuration, test strategy, cutover planning, and solution quality assurance.
  • Lead data migration design for financial data models, historical data, and mappings.
  • Partner with PMO to ensure scope clarity, risk identification, and resource planning.
  • Advise CFOs, Finance Directors, Controllers, and business leads on transformation roadmap.
  • Lead workshops, solution sign‑offs, and governance boards.
  • Provide thought leadership on finance operating model improvements enabled by D365.
  • Develop and deliver advanced training for power users and finance leadership.
  • Track Microsoft’s product roadmap and evaluate new features for adoption.
  • Identify system improvements that enhance automation, accuracy, and financial insight.
  • Coach teams on D365 financial functionality, frameworks, and delivery excellence.
Competency-Based Requirements
  • Functional & Technical Expertise: Demonstrated ability to design and configure D365 Finance modules at an expert level. Interpret financial standards (IFRS/GAAP) and translate them into system capabilities. Optimise multi‑company, multi‑currency, and intercompany processes. Lead integration design with banking systems, tax engines, and reporting tools.
  • Strategic Problem Solving: Demonstrated ability to diagnose complex financial process issues and propose scalable solutions. Use structured methodologies (e.g., Lean, BPMN, TOGAF) to drive process redesign. Evaluate trade‑offs between customisation vs. standard configuration.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior business stakeholders with well‑supported recommendations. Mentor junior consultants and guide multidisciplinary delivery teams. Facilitate executive‑level workshops and decision forums.
  • Communication & Documentation: Demonstrated ability to produce high‑quality functional design documents, data models, and training materials. Communicate complex topics in clear, accessible language for non‑technical stakeholders. Manage alignment across finance, IT, and external partners.
  • Execution & Delivery Management: Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high‑quality outputs under pressure. Conduct risk analysis and proactively mitigate delivery challenges. Ensure rigorous testing, validation, and control adherence across project phases.

7–12+ years of experience in ERP finance consulting, with at least 5 years in D365 F&O or AX. Proven leadership in multiple full lifecycle D365 F&O implementations. Deep finance and controlling domain expertise (accounting, FP&A, costing, audit). Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, tax, and statutory reporting. Experience in complex enterprise environments (global rollouts, shared service centres).

Preferred
  • Microsoft Certified: Dynamics 365 Finance Functional Consultant Expert.
  • Experience with Power BI, Power Automate, Dataverse, and dual write.
  • Knowledge of industries such as manufacturing, retail, distribution, or professional services.
