Role Description:
Working as part of the central team, the role involves providing Subject Matter Expertise to the development team of our core TV Audience Measurement backend processing system. This system is a key part of the overall Kantar solution to process meter data capturing audio and other measurement techniques from the panel home, to match it against a set of channel references and ultimately through the backend processing system, provide a coherent and accurate report on what people are watching on their TV possibly through other devices. The system is modular with data being processed and edited through various stages but has complexities in how viewing data is transformed from data collection to final output.
Role Responsibilities:
- Engage with Product team to design solutions
- Work closely with the Product Owner within Agile scrum team to take items from the Product Backlog and take ownership in writing specifications for the development team to implement those features
- Help validate final solution meets all the requirements
- Collaborate with service and other central teams in supporting data queries and help with resolving identified issues through solutions to implement
- Maintain documentation created, including in Confluence
- Guide development team members with their domain expertise
Required Qualifications:
- Proven track record as a SME and be able to demonstrate their abilities and expertise through tangible achievements
- Very good communication skills
- Specifications need to be written with great (almost mathematical) precision and sometimes at a low level (i.e., defining logic step by step).
- On occasions, necessary to write documents or emails that explain complex issues to a broad set of stakeholders, and requires the ability to construct well-structured and reasoned narratives.
- Reasonable fluency in a scripting language (Python or Awk) for data analysis
- Basic SQL to access and analyse Oracle DB data
- Basic Unix skills
- Our systems are complex, need to be self-starting at using multiple resources (people, specifications, Confluence, legacy documents etc.) to climb the challenging learning curve
- It is very useful to have or build a basic understanding of Market Research methods and practices.
- Some aspects of Atria functionality only make sense with such understanding
- Some changes to Atria are complex and require design across multiple components or systems, multiple phases of processing, and new or altered data formats/schema.
- Generally, we expect SMEs to undertake the design work required for such changes. This requires both good end-to-end understanding of the systems and good logical software design skills
- Ability to analyse current UI solutions and suggest improvements based on user feedback and industry best practices.
- Ability to work closely with UI experts and interpret their outputs
- Experience working with offshore development team
- Knowledge of Cloud based environments and processing (e.g. Azure), Storage Explorer etc.
- Good standard Business Analysis skills
- Very good writing ability
- Good basic technical skills
- Self-starting and able to progress on own initiative
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing teams and collaborating with third-party vendors.
Soft Skills:
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Education:
A bachelor’s degree in engineering, particularly in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, is highly desirable.
