Specialising in audience measurement, consumer targeting and in-depth intelligence into paid, owned and earned media, their global coverage and local expertise enable better understanding of media audiences and their relationships with brands. Kantar Media is a wholly owned but operationally independent part of the Kantar Group.

About Kantar Media & Barb: Kantar Media supplies Audience Viewing Measurement Data to Barb Audiences Ltd (formerly known as the Broadcasters' Audience Research Board). Our Field Technician Team visits panel homes to install and maintain specialized monitoring equipment and software that accurately and securely collects this vital data, 365 days a year.

The Role: Reporting to the Field Technician Supervisor, the Field Technician will be responsible for installing and maintaining TV & Broadband monitoring equipment, including the installation of PC, Mac, and Tablet Software.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and maintain metering equipment and software in panel homes.
  • Educate panel members in the correct use and care of the metering equipment.
  • Remove Television and Broadband monitoring equipment from homes of panel members who wish to leave the panel.
  • Provide training on the use of Kantar equipment and software to panel members.
  • Store monitoring equipment safely when not installed in panel homes.
  • Resolve or escalate any issues related to the monitoring equipment or software in panel homes.
  • Provide accurate information to Kantar management, office staff, and panel members regarding field activity and equipment in panel homes.
  • Accurately log and report all field activity and details of equipment in panel homes.
  • Maintain stock levels of metering equipment, returning excess stock to central stores.
  • Ensure the company vehicle is maintained in a roadworthy and clean condition.
  • Ensure Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and project deadlines are met within specific timeframes.

Candidate Profile: The ideal candidate will have experience in a customer-facing role, with a background or interest in Computing, Audio Visual, or Telecoms. A good understanding of Broadband, Smartphones, and Tablets would be advantageous. We also welcome applicants with an interest in modern technology who are looking to build a career as a technician in a unique field. Full training will be provided as part of an intensive four-week plan.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • An understanding and interest in modern TV, computer, and broadband systems, with the ability to connect and set up this type of equipment.
  • Experience in installing software and following menu systems on Windows computers.
  • The ability to work without direct supervision to a high standard.
  • Willingness to work as part of a large team, which may include occasional overnight stays away from home to support the wider field force.
  • Excellent customer service skills, as the field technician represents Kantar in panel members’ homes. Professionalism, punctuality, and courtesy are essential.

Required Attributes:

  • Willingness to learn new technology and focus on training to develop new skills.
  • Flexibility to work in a field-based environment, ensuring panel member needs are met for service and installation visits.
  • Ability to work unsupervised, making independent work schedules as needed.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to learn Kantar’s custom software management programs and accurately log data into these systems.
  • Prepared to drive within the UK mainland and associated Islands.
  • Flexibility to work away from home, with occasional overnight stays.
  • A full driving license with no more than 6 points (company vehicle provided).
  • A C.R.B. check documentation is required.
