To deliver a successful engineering maintenance shift, with respect to OEE, via effective fault diagnosis and repair and maintenance activities, all performed to the relevant practices and procedures which ensure the health and safety of the engineering team, the food safety of our products, and cost efficiency via engineering talent.
Main purpose of the role:
To deliver a successful engineering maintenance shift, with respect to OEE, via effective fault diagnosis and repair and maintenance activities.
Job Responsibilities:
- Mechanical – 30%
- Ability to diagnose faults in a safe, controlled and effective manner.
- Conduct breakdown repairs in a safe and efficient manner.
- Work closely with the operations team to ensure equipment issues are resolved.
- Must be competent to conduct root cause analysis.
- Must be able to record findings and breakdowns and communicate these to enable an improved solution.
- To identify areas of poor equipment performance, and working with the Team Leader implement improvements in a controlled and measurable fashion.
- Must be competent to conduct Preventative Maintenance activities to a very high standard and be able to record and relay findings and identify methods of improvement.
- Electrical – 70%
- Must be able to electrically fault find in a safe, methodical and timely manner.
- Can conduct electrical machinery audits.
- To monitor and ensure that manufacturing equipment does not pose any electrical risks to personnel.
- To identify areas of poor equipment performance, and working with the Team Leader implement improvements in a controlled and measurable fashion.
- Must be competent to conduct Preventative Maintenance activities to a very high standard and be able to record and relay findings and identify methods of improvement.
- To ensure, in conjunction with Technical Management, that all engineering interventions provide for safe food production.
- To have an understanding of and implement HACCP principles.
- To ensure that employees adhere to personal hygiene requirements.
- To ensure all company policies and procedures are being adhered to in the department.
- Must work to food safe standards when conducting repairs/maintenance within the food manufacturing environment.
- Health & Safety
- To ensure, in conjunction with H&S, that all engineering work is delivered in a safe, managed and lawful manner and is compliant with all relevant legislation.
- Must follow and ensure lock off/tag off procedures are adhered to.
- To promote a safe working environment by enforcing safe task procedures within self and others.
- To ensure H&S rules and regulations are followed at all times.
- To make ongoing inspections of the workplace and take immediate steps to correct unsafe and unsatisfactory conditions or procedures.
- Any such conditions or procedures need to be reported to the Team Leader.
- To fully comply with site standards for use of PPE and monitor and support others in maintaining a safe approach via effective PPE usage.
- To play an active part in risk assessments.
- Communication
- To actively co-operate and communicate with all company departments in the best interests of the business.
- To liaise with Production, Hygiene and Technical teams to discuss and communicate issues and actions.
- To communicate with equipment manufacturers and suppliers in engineering matters as required for the successful operation of the plant and to disseminate information to Engineering, Production and Technical colleagues as necessary.
- To contribute to effective shift handovers by ensuring that all relevant and important information and details are relayed accordingly.
- Admin
- To undertake project work as directed by the Team Leader and ensure that the project is completed and the outcome is reported back to the Team Leader.
- To ensure that paperwork is correct and up to date.
- To read and respond to e-mails in a timely manner.
- To ensure that all company policies and procedures are always adhered to.
- To fully support the implementation of any elements of the ERP applicable to your section.
- Any other duties to meet the needs of the business.
Job Requirements:
- Must be highly methodical and organised in approach to preventative maintenance.
- Can demonstrate an excellent approach to fault finding.
- Can work well within teams.
- Must have a passion for getting into the detail of machinery function and operation.
- Experience of machinery maintenance and fault diagnoses.
- Has a strong background in maintenance within food manufacturing environment.
