Fast paced food business based in Hayes supplying luxury food products requires a highly capable and confident Transport Manager OPPORTUNITY HIGHLIGHTS Competitive Salary Fully site-based role Highly successful business within the Food Industry Monday-Friday 6am-2pm THE TRANSPORT MANAGER Running a busy operation consisting of 30+ vehicles 25 of which are 3.5t vehicles. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day operation of our transport department. Delivering a range of foods in temperature controlled vehicles to retailers, hotels, restaurants etc across London and the Home Counties our reputation is built on consistently delivering on time and in full. Key Aspects of the role include: Organising and planning routes on a daily basis whilst developing and changing our logistics plan to ensure maximum efficiency and customer satisfaction. Ensuring vehicles are serviced and repaired in a timely fashion working with a maintenance schedule to ensure roadworthiness and Operator License requirements are met. Ensuring staff levels are adequate to achieve all deliveries on a daily basis. Liaising with agencies and other department heads to secure transport staff whilst also being capable of delivering yourself, the successful candidate must be prepared to carry out deliveries as and when the need arises. Ensuring high levels of customer service are maintained for customers and deliveries are on time and accurately despatched. Ensuring compliance with legislation and maintaining awareness of current and future changes in legislation and managing their effect on the business. Hands-on management of transport staff ranging from friendly chats to disciplinary action. Allocating holidays and rest days and ensuring training is up to date and refreshed as required. Carrying out spot checks and walk around checks to ensure vehicles are being looked after by the drivers.
