Other Requirements
- Non-Teaching Applicants must Complete WVSSAC Training and Certification Program (cost $250.00)
- Apply for position(s) annually
- Submit to criminal background check (cost $47.25) and substance screening test
- Be eligible and apply for certification as Coach through the WV Department of Education (cost $35.00); keep certification valid and current (annual cost $35.00)
- Attend Kanawha County Schools' Orientation
Requirements for Certified Teachers
- New teachers hired after July 1, 2012 who apply to coach on the secondary level (grades 6‑12) must have completed the three‑hour training session provided by Kanawha County Schools and completed the online Concussion Awareness Course through the KCS Staff Development Site; cost $15.00
