We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious O&M Assistant Shift Team Leader (Assistant STL) to join our Operations team at our Earls Gate facility. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant daily operation of our centrally controlled Energy from Waste (EfW) plant and its associated auxiliaries.
Key Responsibilities
- Control Room Operations: Monitor and control plant operating parameters via the DCS (manually or automatically); safely shut down and restart production, safety, and utility plants following established procedures.
- HSEQ Leadership: Demonstrate a strict commitment to Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality; report incidents/near-misses, and exercise the authority to stop unsafe work.
- Plant Inspections & Maintenance: Conduct daily routine walk-downs, complete log sheets, log maintenance work requests in the CMMS, and assist the STL with equipment lockouts/tagouts (LOTO).
- Emergency Response: Provide active support as part of the installation's emergency response team and react quickly with sound judgment during plant upsets.
- Team Collaboration: Liaise closely with the maintenance department, maintain workplace cleanliness, and step into the full STL role when required.

Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of operational experience within the Power Industry, Energy from Waste (EfW), or a similar heavy process industry.
Technical Skills
- Proven experience with SAP (11KV) systems and operating standard IT/Computerised Maintenance Management Systems.
Qualifications
- A recognized qualification in an engineering or process discipline (or equivalent), alongside an IOSH qualification. Additional HSE accredited training is highly desirable.
Control Room Competency
- A clear understanding of equipment interlocks, plant control loops, alarms, and trips.
Communication
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to provide clear instructions and train others.
Shift Pattern: 2 days, 2 nights, 5 off, 2 day, 3 nights, 4 off, 3 days, 2 nights, 5 off
