Role Overview: The Commissioning Lead Engineer – Boilers will take ownership of boiler commissioning activities, ensuring delivery in line with project requirements, contractual obligations, and HSEQ standards. The role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders in a complex commissioning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and ensure full HSEQ compliance throughout the commissioning phase, actively promoting a strong safety culture and effective risk mitigation.
  • Review, implement, and enforce HSEQ requirements during commissioning, ensuring all activities are carried out in accordance with RAMS, site standards, and applicable legislation.
  • Take overall responsibility for commissioning the full boiler package, ensuring all systems are delivered safely, on time, and in line with contractual and technical requirements.
  • Oversee and coordinate commissioning activities to ensure alignment with project contracts, schedules, budgets, and approved standards.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, OEMs, and external authorities to ensure safe, timely, and high‑quality execution of commissioning activities.
  • Maintain accurate commissioning documentation, provide regular progress reports, and contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications Candidate Profile:

  • Degree‑qualified Mechanical or Process Engineer with proven experience in the commissioning of Power or Waste‑to‑Energy (EfW) plants.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering the full boiler package on a large‑scale EfW facility.
  • Proven leadership experience in Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) management, with strong knowledge of relevant HSEQ legal requirements.
  • Holds a valid Safety Contractors Certificate (SCC) or equivalent safety qualification.
  • Hands‑on experience with LOTO (Lock Out / Tag Out) and Permit to Work systems in industrial commissioning environments.
  • Solution‑oriented, proactive, and a strong forward planner with excellent organisational skills.
  • Clear and confident communicator, able to present ideas effectively to multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages are an advantage.
