Welcome to Kanadevia Inova, a global innovation leader in the waste infrastructure space, where we believe in creating a sustainable future through technology and innovation. At Kanadevia Inova, we pride ourselves on being at the forefront of waste-to-X technology. We are not just waste managers; we are creators of value from what communities discard.
Kanadevia Inova is recruiting a Commissioning Manager for our Thameside Energy Recovery Facility (ERF) located in Tilbury, Essex. We are hiring ahead of the December 2026 requirement, in order to allow sufficient time for training by our existing Commissioning Managers on KVI processes and systems. We are also looking for more Commissioning Managers across our other Energy from Waste (EfW) sites, therefore, please apply stating which location(s) you are interested in on your application cover note.
These roles are open only to senior-level Commissioning Managers with proven experience acting as Overall or EPC Commissioning Manager on large-scale (>£500m) Waste-to-Energy plants using grate-firing technology. Because these positions are responsible for the commissioning of complete EfW power plants, candidates must have hands-on commissioning experience within EfW EPC projects at whole-plant level. These are not package or subsystem roles — we are seeking professionals who have led the end-to-end commissioning of full EfW facilities in complex EPC environments.
As Commissioning Manager, you will lead the safe and structured commissioning of large EfW facilities from mechanical completion through to performance testing and handover:
- Lead the full EPC commissioning programme for EfW power plants
- Manage commissioning teams, contractors and OEMs across all systems
- Deliver plant start-up, testing, performance and handover to operations
- Ensure compliance with HSE, quality, contractual and regulatory requirements
- Report commissioning progress, risks and performance to project leadership
These duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature of the role and are not an exhaustive list. Responsibilities may vary depending on project and business requirements.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as Overall or EPC Commissioning Manager on EfW projects
- Delivery of grate-fired Waste-to-Energy plants at full-plant level
- Experience on large-scale EPC projects (£500m+)
- Strong knowledge of boiler, flue gas, turbine, balance-of-plant and control systems
- Track record of leading commissioning safely in complex environments
- SMSTS/IOSH/NEBOSH Equivalent Managers Qualification
- Valid SCC training certificate (Safety Certification for Contractors)
- Strong leadership skills, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities and negotiation skills
- Business fluent in English, other foreign languages an advantage
