We are seeking an experienced Operation and Maintenance (O&M) - Maintenance Manager to lead plant maintenance activities and ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the facility. This is a senior role with responsibility for people leadership, asset reliability, HSE compliance, and cost control in a regulated industrial environment.
Role Overview
- Overall responsibility for the plant maintenance function, ensuring continuous facility operation in line with safety, environmental, and contractual requirements.
- Direct leadership of maintenance teams, with accountability for performance, capability development, and resource planning.
- Collaborative role working closely with Operations, HSE, and Purchasing to support production schedules and plant availability.
- Technical authority for maintenance strategy, reliability improvement, and lifecycle asset management.
- Champion of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) culture across all maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities (Non-Exhaustive)
- Manage and supervise maintenance engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure safe, effective execution of planned and unplanned maintenance.
- Maintain plant availability in accordance with contractual obligations, leading outage planning and execution.
- Oversee maintenance budgets, control expenditure, and drive cost-reduction initiatives to improve commercial performance.
- Ensure full compliance with UK HSE legislation, environmental permits, and plant operating requirements, including audits and inspections.
- Lead root cause investigations, promote robust HSE surveillance, and ensure timely reporting and escalation of incidents or non-compliance.

Qualifications & Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent demonstrable experience.
- Recognised HSE-accredited training or certifications.
- Strong technical grounding in mechanical and electrical systems within industrial environments.
- Evidence of continuous professional development aligned to maintenance leadership.
- Formal training in maintenance systems, reliability, or asset management considered advantageous.
Experience
- Solid experience in plant maintenance within EfW, power generation, or similar process industries.
- Proven background in maintaining complex equipment, systems, and material handling operations.
- Experience developing and implementing maintenance management systems (CMMS, preventive and predictive maintenance).
- Demonstrated leadership of multi-disciplinary maintenance teams in a safety-critical environment.
- Track record of working within regulated sites requiring environmental and operational permits.

- Strategic and analytical thinker, able to align maintenance objectives with long-term business goals.
