We are hiring a Shift Operations Technician for our Earls Gate Energy Centre, Waste-to-Energy plant in Grangemouth, Scotland. The Shift Operations Technician is responsible for specific activities in the safe and environmentally sound operation of the process systems and equipment and assisting the Shift Team Leader in the daily operation and regular inspections of the plant.

Shift Rota:

  • 2 Days, 2 nights, 5 days off
  • 2 Days, 3 Nights, 4 days off
  • 3 Days, 2 Nights, 5 days off

Responsibilities:

  • Plant & control system first line maintenance, fault diagnosis, reporting, and documentation completion in line with safety, business, and statutory requirements.
  • Carry out routine plant duties ensuring commercial performance, availability, and reliability are maintained to a high level.
  • Responsible for the safety and HSE performance of all personnel under their control, and for stopping work where this might be compromised.
  • Effectively react to planned and unplanned (i.e. emergency) repairs, blockages, and changes in the plant central systems.
  • Promptly react to system alarms/protocols to secure areas of the plant if/as required.
  • Monitoring all areas of the plant from the control room, including operating the overhead crane for the systematic removal of waste, and accessing all areas of the plant (from height to ground levels) to check instruments, gauges, and to take readings and actions as required.
  • Fulfill the role of Plant Attendant if/when required, including loading and unloading of vehicles, use of the 3.5 ton front loading shovel, Telehandler & Fork Lift Truck (FLT) as required.

Qualifications:

  • NVQ preferred.
  • Experience in plant & control system first line maintenance, fault diagnosis, reporting, and documentation.
  • Good experience within the Power Industry process or similar type of industry in a shift operations role.
  • Familiar with HSE standards, procedures, and requirements and control plant operations in a safe and efficient manner.
