A respected and long-established construction contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join its growing commercial team. With over 50 years of successful project delivery across Northern England and Southern Scotland, this business has built an outstanding reputation within the construction and civil engineering sectors. Projects span housing developments, refurbishment, new builds, steel frame construction, education, retail, highways, water infrastructure, and design & build schemes.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused QS seeking long-term career progression within a stable and supportive organisation known for staff retention and internal development.
The RoleYou will work closely with Contracts Managers, Engineers, procurement teams, and site staff to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, profitably, and to a high commercial standard. Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing valuations, cost reports, and financial analysis
- Managing project budgets and commercial performance
- Subcontractor procurement, negotiation, and package management
- Pricing and managing variations and change control
- Interim valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts
- Contract administration and commercial compliance
- Forecasting and commercial reporting
- Building strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors
- Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction
- Strong commercial and contractual knowledge
- Experience with subcontractor management and cost control
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects effectively
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent preferred
- Full UK driving licence advantageous
- £50,000 – £70,000 salary DOE
