We are looking for a sharp, detail-driven Practice Accountant to join a well-established, forward-thinking accountancy firm based just outside of Ware, Hertfordshire. About the role
You will be working within a small friendly, close-knit team supporting a varied portfolio of clients from sole traders to medium sized limited companies. The day-to-day includes a mix of accounts preparations to draft stage, VAT returns, bookkeeping reviews and client queries. It’s a role that offers structure and autonomy, where your voice will be heard and your input valued. There’s also space here to grow, whether you want to deepen your technical knowledge or take on more responsibility over time.

The team culture is open, relaxed and collaborative with a shared focus on providing a high quality service to look after their clients and cater for their individual needs.
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm
Key duties:
- Preparing financial statements for individuals, partnerships and Limited Companies.
- Liaising with clients to obtain information relevant to the preparation of accounts/tax returns.
- Completing electronic working papers with back-up schedules to support figures.
- Bookkeeping to aid the production of VAT returns and annual accounts.
- Preparing management accounts.
- Assisting clients in transitioning to using accounting software to ensure MTD compliance.
- Assisting payroll processing where required.
Key requirements:
- Prior experience working in an accountancy practice.
- AAT qualified or ACA/ACCA part-qualified.
- Strong understanding of VAT, bookkeeping and company accounts.
- Comfortable using cloud-based accounting software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, SAGE, IRIS).
- Able to manage your own time and have a team player ethic.
