Looking to put your CNC turning skills to better use in a workplace that values quality over speed, precision over production lines, and people over process? We are working with a company that isn't just ticking boxes; they are pushing boundaries in precision engineering, and they need someone like you to keep raising the bar. This isn't just another CNC role; if you're passionate about craftsmanship and want to work with a team that actually takes pride in doing things properly, keep reading.

About the role: This is a hands-on role for someone with solid experience in CNC turning. You'll be programming, setting, and operating CNC lathes to produce tight-tolerance components for industries where the details matter: aerospace, automotive, motorsport, medical—you name it. You won't be stuck churning out the same part for days. Instead, expect a mix of short and medium batch work, a variety of materials, and the chance to work on some genuinely interesting and often bespoke projects.

About the client: Established in 1979 and based in Rugby, the heart of the midlands, this business has built a reputation in the engineering world for doing things the right way with care, precision, and consistency. They're a small, close-knit team with a loyal customer base, often punching well above their weight in terms of technical ability and project scope. Our clients have invested in their people and their kit, and they are continuing to grow in the right way—steadily, sustainably, and with quality always at the forefront. The workshop is clean, well-organised, and packed with modern machinery; it's the kind of place engineers enjoy working in.

Working hours: Monday to Thursday: 7.30am - 4.00pm; Friday: 7.30am - 3.00pm; Occasional overtime availability.

Key duties:

  • Program, set and operate CNC lathes (Fanuc control preferred)
  • Interpret technical drawings with confidence
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy and surface finish
  • Select appropriate tooling and materials for each job
  • Inspect parts during and after machining to ensure quality
  • Work alongside engineers to troubleshoot and improve processes

Key requirements:

  • Proven experience in CNC turning (programming, setting, operating)
  • Confident with Fanuc controls (or similar)
  • Able to read and work from engineering drawings independently
  • Comfortable with one-off and low-volume work
  • Good communicator, team player, and reliable in the workshop
  • Experience in offline programming, Featurecam / Fusion 360 would be an advantage.
