About the Role:
An established independent service station in Timperley is looking to recruit an experienced and reliable Vehicle Technician to join its busy workshop team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician who is confident working independently and takes pride in delivering a consistently high standard of workmanship. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and mechanical repairs across a variety of vehicles. They will be joining an established independent business that values reliability, technical ability and quality workmanship.
Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years' experience, hold a full UK driving licence and have their own tools. An MOT Tester qualification would be preferred but is not essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carrying out routine servicing and general vehicle maintenance
- Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults
- Completing repairs including brakes, suspension, steering, exhausts and other mechanical components
- Using diagnostic equipment to accurately identify vehicle faults
- Conducting vehicle inspections and identifying additional work required
- Completing pre-MOT inspections and preparing vehicles for MOT testing
- Carrying out MOT tests where appropriately qualified
- Ensuring all servicing and repairs are completed safely and to a high standard
- Maintaining accurate records of work completed
- Ensuring tools, equipment and working areas are kept clean and organised
- Following all relevant health and safety procedures
- Working effectively both independently and as part of the wider workshop team
Skills & Experience Required:
- A minimum of 5 years' experience as a Vehicle Technician, Mechanic or within a similar automotive role
- Strong mechanical servicing, maintenance and repair experience
- Good diagnostic and fault-finding abilities
- A full UK driving licence is essential
- Candidates must have their own tools
- Ability to work confidently across a range of makes and models
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Reliable, organised and capable of managing workload effectively
- MOT Tester qualification is preferred but not essential
- Relevant automotive qualifications would be advantageous
