Mechanic

Location: Leeds Salary: £30,000–£34,000 per annum Job type: Full-time, permanent About the company An established vehicle maintenance and repair workshop in Leeds is looking to add an experienced Mechanic to its team. The company provides MOT testing, servicing, diagnostics and repairs, with a focus on reliable workmanship and helping customers keep their vehicles safe and running efficiently. The role The successful candidate will work on a variety of vehicles, carrying out routine maintenance, diagnosing faults and completing repairs to a high standard. This position would suit a Mechanic who is confident working independently and enjoys contributing to a busy workshop team. Working hours Monday to Friday: 9:00am–6:00pm Every second Saturday: 10:00am–2:00pm, paid as overtime Key responsibilities Carry out vehicle servicing, maintenance and repairs. Timing belts, timing chains, gearboxes and full engine jobs Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and recommend appropriate repairs. Repair or replace components, including brakes, suspension, steering and exhaust systems. Inspect vehicles and identify any additional work required. Prepare vehicles for MOT tests and complete any necessary repairs. Record completed work accurately and maintain a clean, safe workshop. Candidate requirements A minimum of 3 years' experience as a Mechanic or Vehicle Technician, with 3–5 years' experience preferred. A full UK driving licence is not essential but preferred. The ability to diagnose faults and carry out repairs independently. Good attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work. A relevant motor vehicle qualification is preferred but not essential. Salary and benefits £30,000–£34,000 per annum, depending on experience. 21 days' holiday plus bank holidays.
